Permanent Method to Crack WGA and Patch Windows XP (inc MCE) or 2003 as Genuine

There is a lot of cracks or patches or fixes that aims to bypass or skip Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) validation process, or trick the WGA validation results to be always genuine. However, these workarounds do not address the fundamental issue of the problem - that’s the product CD key or volume license key (VLK) registered in your copy of Windows XP, Windows XP Media Center Edition (MCE) and Windows Server 2003 is invalid or has been blocked or banned by Microsoft. The following ultimate WGA Patcher Permanent Kit with cracks and procedures all-in-one package will convert and transform the pirated Windows operating system into genuine and legitimate OS when validate by Microsoft’s WGA, by changing the serial number, product key or VLK of the Windows with a valid CD key, and when necessary, apply patch.

  1. Download WGA Patcher Permanent Kit (WPatcherP5575987.zip) (link removed due to complaint from Microsoft) or GenuineWindowsPatcher.zip (download removed due to complaint from Microsoft) which contains Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder v1.51 (keyfinder.exe), Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostics Tool 1.5.0717.0 (MGADiag.exe), wga-hosts-fix 0.1 (wga-fix.exe), and Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 VLK key generator (MSKey.exe or Windows XP Keygen.exe).
  2. Extract the zip file.
  3. Run the Windows XP/2003 key generator (MSKey.exe or Windows XP Keygen.exe).
  4. In the key generator, under the Product Family, select “Windows XP Pro. VLK”, and click the “Generate” button to generate a valid and genuine serial key for Windows XP (choose Windows Server 2003 VLK for Windows 2003). If key generator doesn’t work, try to find a product key on web.
  5. Note down the product key or serial that is generated (can leave the program opens). The idea is to get VLK key that yet to be blocked or unknown to Microsoft.
  6. Execute Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder (keyfinder.exe). If you having problem with Keyfinder, you can use any other Windows key changer listed here, such as RockXP and KeyFinder Thing.
  7. Once launched, Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder will display the existing Windows and Office product key in the system. Select “Microsoft Windows” tab (open by default), and click on Options menu, and then select “Change Windows Key”.
  8. In the Change Microsoft Windows XP Key window, key in the product key or serial number generated from the keygen program in the boxes.
  9. Click on Change button when done.
  10. Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder will use Microsoft’s WMI script to change the product key of Windows XP. Follow on screen instruction to continue.
  11. Run wga-fix.exe program. Click on Yes button on the ‘wga-host-fix 0.1 window’ to redirect WGA authorization and validation request to loopback address (127.0.0.1). Alternatively, open Command Prompt, and navigate to \Windows\System32\drivers\etc\ directory, edit the Hosts file, and add in the following entry to the end of the file:127.0.0.1 mpa.one.microsoft.com
  12. Uninstall or delete any cracked or patched LegitControlCheck.dll, WgaTray.exe and WgaLogon.dll located in \Windows\System32 folder. You may also need to delete “Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool” located in C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files\ folder.
  13. Go to Windows (Microsoft) Updates or Microsoft Download Center to download updates or applications in which require validation. Install WGA Validation Tool ActiveX when prompted. (Note: If you’re having problem to validate Windows with MGADiag.exe in later process, you still skip previous and this step first or apply the patched LegitCheckControl.dll again, which means leave the patch and crack intact, and only come back to delete any crack or patch, and install original WGA validation tool later. This especially true if you have LegitCheckControl.dll 1.5.723.1 with MGDIAG.exe 1.5.0717.0)
  14. Run the Microsoft Microsoft Genuine Validation Diagnostic Tool (MGADiag.exe), and click on Continue button to proceed.
  15. Click on OK when MGADiag finishes processing and displays your genuine status. The status should show GENUINE, and not NOT ACTIVATED.

Step 6 - 10 can also be done without using any hacker tool, by using Activation Wizard following official tutorial from Microsoft on how to change the Volume Licensing product key on a computer that is running Windows XP SP1 and later versions of Windows XP detailed as below.

  1. Click Start, and then click Run.
  2. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
  3. In the left pane, locate and then click the following registry key:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Current Version\WPAEvents
  4. In the right pane, right-click OOBETimer, and then click Modify.
  5. Change at least one digit of this value to deactivate Windows.
  6. Click Start, and then click Run.
  7. In the Open box, type the following command, and then click OK.%systemroot%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a
  8. Click Yes, I want to telephone a customer service representative to activate Windows, and then click Next.
  9. Click Change Product key.
  10. Type the new product key in the New key boxes, and then click Update. If you are returned to the previous window, click Remind me later, and then restart the computer.
  11. Repeat steps 6 to verify that Windows is activated. You receive the following message:Windows is already activated. Click OK to exit.

Shortcut to Genuine Windows without Any Crack

Unable to download the crack? Or afraid that the cracks of keygen and key changer contains virus or trojan? You can simply add in the entry in step 11 (i.e. 127.0.0.1 mpa.one.microsoft.com) into your Hosts file if VLK key of your Windows installation has PID within the range of -640 to -641 or any other volume license product key that is not blocked. You can try it anyway no matter what product key you used to see if it working with existing CD key without changing the key.

Note: This shortcut by using wga-fix.exe or manually editing the Hosts file should works out of the box immediately on Windows XP Media Center Edition (MCE) 2005 and Windows XP Tablet PC Edition, and by luck on Windows XP Home, XP Professional and Windows 2003.

  1. Simply remove and delete the crack or patch that has been applied in \Windows\System32 (LegitCheckControl.dll, WgaLogon.dll, WgaTray.exe) or \Documents and Settings\All users\Application Data (sub-folders “Windows Genuine Advantage” and “Office Genuine Advantage”)
  2. Go to Windows (Microsoft) Updates or Microsoft Download Center to access Windows updates or download applications that require validation. Install WGA Validation Tool ActiveX when prompted.
  3. Add in the “127.0.0.1 mpa.one.microsoft.com” to the Hosts file located in \Windows\System32\drivers\etc\ folder. Or alternatively, just execute wga-fix.exe (download link removed due to complaint from Microsoft) contained in the WGA crack archive package.
  4. Run MGADiag.exe to validate the Windows is genuine.

After applying this trick or hack, Microsoft WGA Validation Tool will treat the Windows as genuine, as in you legally purchase and buy the Windows OS. Users can access to Windows Updates or Microsoft Updates, download WGA validation required software products from Microsoft Download Center such as as Windows Defender, WMP11, IE7, DirectX and etc, and also to install these programs with proper validation without any cracks. This hack or trick should works on Windows XP, Windows XP Media Center Edition (MCE), and even Windows Server 2003, and users can pick any browsers they like, including IE6, IE7, Firefox, Netscape or web browser powerd by IE such as MSN Explorer or AOL Explorer.

If you still having problem with this method, try out other WGA bypass methods.

    helios -

I was excited when I got your registry changes because I was starting to think it must be a problem with registry entries. That may still be so, but alas, the ones you suggested in your reg file are not the problem. I opened the reg file in Notebook and went through each registry entry manually and they were already correct. Considering that I’ve already deleted every file I’ve seen discussed on the net regarding this - datastores, software distributions, Genuine software data.dat file, various versions of LegitControlCheck, wgatray and wgalogon - I have to believe that there is something in the registry that is keeping the activex file from being downloaded and/or installed in the Downloaded Program Files folder. When I deleted the original Microsoft Genuine Validation program from the Downloaded Program Files folder, maybe the program is still registered in the registry and entries are not deleted? Therefore Windows Update still thinks it’s installed and doesn’t download it again? I’m really reaching here.

As for the Mozilla/4.0, yeah, I’m sorry about bothering you with that. I went to the wiki right after I wrote you and saw that that was the correct entry. Not to mention the hundreds of MGAdiag diagnostics I’ve perused on the Microsoft Genuine forum sites. Lots of other people are having this problem and I have yet to see a definive answer from Microsoft to any of them.

I even uninstalled IE7 yesterday downgrading to IE6 hoping the reinstall would fix the problem. (IE7 has no problem reinstalling since MGADiag validates my installation as genuine.) But no dice. Also, just to let you know, I commented out the entry in the Hosts file when you suggested it.

I have gone to the Event Viewer to see if anything looks amiss there. No red flags and indeed indicates that everything has installed properly. ARGHH!

As you can see, I am tenacious about fixing the problem, but I am running out of hope.

Thanks as always for your help.

    @Pete,

MGADiag is reporting the correct User_Agent. The User_Agent header string is part of the HTTP request sent to the web server. I don’t want to get into the details (see Wikipedia if interested - search for User_Agent), but back in the days when Microsoft was the new kid on the block, Netscape Navigator (code name Mozilla) was the overwhelmingly popular choice of browser. This spoof as it is known in the trade was used by Microsoft so that the website would download the content designed for Navigator. Old habits die hard.

Now back to your problem. I’ve asked some questions and discovered the registry settings that govern the loading of ActiveX controls. I don’t know how confident you are about delving into your registry, so I have uploaded a zip file to a server for you. This contains some instructions and a .reg file you can merge into your registry if necessary. The link is

    Helios -

The Windows Genuine ActiveX control is not listed in the add-ons of the browser. It used to be before I removed the Windows Genuine Validation program from the Windows/Downloaded Program Files folder. This in essence is the problem - that it is not installed as an ActiveX add-on in the browser.

However, I do have a quick question for you. If you use the Mgadiag.exe tool as you advised me to do earlier, what is listed under the Browser tab as the User Agent? I have Mozilla/4.0 which I think is strange. The Default Browser however is listed as IEXPLORE.exe (IE7).

    @Pete

Another possibility that I should have thought about sooner is that the WGA ActiveX has somehow been disabled in your browser.

You should check this before considering my suggestion in the other post.

In your browser go to Tools –> Manage Add-ons. In the Show box make sure that ‘Add-ons that have been used …..’ is selected. Scroll down to Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool. Highlight it and make sure it is set to ‘Enabled’. Click on the Update ActiveX button. I’m embarrassed that I did not even think of this at the beginning.

Yeah, I thought about the loopback entry also but had not tested by commenting it out. So I did, but no change in behavior. Deleted everything - datastore, LegitCheckControl, download in Software Distribution - but to no avail. Just installs another LegitCheckControl (always 1.5.530.0) and no wgatray, wgalogon, and of course no ActiveX control. Bummed!

I get the feeling you may be running out of suggestions, but I thank you nonetheless. I would think that someone else has run into this problem before, but I can get no information by Google or anything else.

If you have any other suggestions, would be happy to try. Thanks once again. :-(

    @Pete,

I have no experience of the procedure you have been trying to use since I have a genuine genuine Windows on my computer.

Having read through your posts again, I notice a reference to an addition to your HOSTS file. This is a loop-back which is preventing information being sent from your computer to the Microsoft validation site.

This is presumably intentional, but it cannot be of any use until you have the ActiveX installed. This entry is possibly preventing the installation of the ActiveX.

I suggest you delete the LegitCheckControl.dll in your \WINDOWS\system32 folder. Then go to your HOSTS file in \WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc. Open it using Notepad and locate the line ‘127.0.0.1 mpa.one.microsoft.com’. Place a # at the start of the line so that it is not applied. Then try to install the ActiveX. If that is successful then you can remove the #.

    Hi helios — Pete again

I’m bummed to report that your suggestion did not work. And I was excited about it too because this was something I hadn’t tried before. I stopped the Automatic Update service, deleted the two files in the Datastore folder, rebooted - I noticed that Windows recreated two new smaller files in the folder upon reboot, and went to Windows Update. Same thing - Validation Incomplete: Unable to Perform Validation. It never pops up the Install AciveX control window; it never installs.

By the way, I had already used the “alternate method’ at the Genuine site. Always the same thing. It fails and when I go through the diagnostics, they all pass until it gets to the last one “Microsoft ActiveX control loading” and it just gets hung on “Checking” instead of “Passed”.

Very frustrating. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi all,
I was able to change my key, BUT only with the keys generated in Windows XP Pro group, NOT the VLK (using MS-key)

I continued with the steps, but it didn’t work (MSdiag says not validated).

Does this mean I have different version of Windows. What version of WinXP should I donwload?

Or is there a workaround to this? I really don’t want to re-install as it’s a lot of work.

Please help, thank you so much guys :)

    @Pete,

Your first step should be to try an alternative validation URL. Try this one.

    http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/downloads/validate.aspx

If that doesn’t do the trick then it looks as if you have a corrupt Windows Update on your computer. You should proceed as follows to delete the contents of your Datastore folder:

You must first temporarily stop the Automatic Updates service

In the Run box, enter services.msc
    Click OK
    Right-click the Automatic Updates service
    Click Stop

Now you can delete the contents of the DataStore folder by navigating to \WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore and deleting all contents of the DataStore folder.

    Restart the Automatic Updates service

Now go and try to validate Windows and accept the ActiveXtool.

Wow…Thank so much helios for the quick reply.

Yeah, I know the 1.5.530.0 version is one of the first that come out and I thought it a little strange that it would download that version and install it. But I’ve done it a couple times now and that’s the one that is downloaded and installed by the process. I wish I knew more about how the different versions worked. 1.5723.1 was on my computer before I deleted everything per the instructions.

As for the browser, it is definitely ActiveX enabled. I can run ActiveX tests properly and Browser security settings in MGADiag are as you described.

Pretty much driving me crazy. Any other suggestions? Thanks a lot.

    @Pete

That is odd, the version number you quote is from August last year. There have been three or four new versions since then. It seems as if you have been given a version that did not come with an ActiveX. The version you need is 1.5.0723.1

It looks as if your browser security settings are too restrictive. MGADiag will show you a lot more than your validation status. Click on the Browser tab and inspect your Security settings that are reported there.

You need to have the following settings:

    Download signed ActiveX controls: Prompt
Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins: Allowed
    Active scripting: Allowed
Script ActiveX controls marked as safe for scripting: Allowed

Others are best set as disabled.

If you need to change any settings, go to Tools –> Internet Options –> Security tab –> Internet –> Custom Level. When there, you can alter the settings, but take care that you alter them only for the settings with exactly the same name as given above.

I really need help with this. This is what I have done. This all came about becasue my VLK was recently blocked.

    1. Changed the VLK to another -640- key that appears to be Genuine.

    2. Ran the wga-fix and verified that it added the 127.0.0.1 entry correctly in the Hosts file.

    3. Deleted LegitCheckControl, wgatray, and wgalogon. I also deleted the Windows Genuine Validation program from Downloaded Program Files folder. (This may have been a mistake but it says I could do it in Step 12. PLus it said it was damaged.)

    4. Went to Windows Update and ran through its download and install procedure. It says it installed the Windows Genuine Tool. However - and this is key - it never asks me to install the ActiveX component. I notice that a new LegitCheckControl v. 1.5.530.0 has been installed in the system32 folder. No wgatray or wgalogon has been installed however. In addition, there is no Windows Genuine Validation tool installed in the Downloaded Program Files folder. The Windows Update site responds with:

Validation Incomplete: Unable to Perform Validation error 0×80080299

    5. If I execute MGAdiag, it says my key is Genuine and creates a new data.dat key in the Genuine Windows folder.

Bottom line: I still can not go to Windows Update and retrieve updates. I always get the Validation Incomplete message. I’m sure this is because the ActiveX control is never downloaded and installed in the Downloaded Programs Files folder. (And wgalogon and wgatray are not downloaded and installed either although I’m not sure what efect that has.)

Can someone help me? It seems like I’m almost there. The MGADiag says the key is Genuine, but I still need to download the ActiveX control to access Windows Update and its not doing it.

    Thanks in advance.

It doesnot work for me. I have all the correct steps followed, but all the time I do that, Microsoft never accepts the key.
One note, are there any rebooting steps in between that I am forgetting, and should the PID be between 640 and 640 only. I have no idea, was up all night, still cant figure it out.

Help would greatly be appreciated. What all should I remove, I dont have any cracked legit and wpa files as well, still I cant do anything.

AND, should the WGADIAG.exe be executed b4 checking it on the website, or does it not matter anyway.

    Ben,Deawoo, Doug

I had similar problems keyfinder saying “An error has occured. This was probably caused by the keying of an invalid number. Please check it and try again.”

Could be the fact I’ve been up all night but this was all due to me having the wrong product family set in the key generator I had it on Windows XP Pro. as soon as I changed it to Windows XP Pro. VLK the new number was accepted first time and all works well. Thanks to all those who worked out this bypass. GREAT WORK
