Gadgetell reviews Dell 2407WFP and concludes that with very good rating of 8.75 out of 10 that “the 2407WFP provides enough real estate to get a lot of work done simultaneously. Multi-tasking has never been so easy. My experience with the 2407WFP was a positive one. The screen was a little wobbily due to the sheer size of the unit, but as long as you have a sturdy desk, you shouldn’t have to worry about that. The monitor is definately on my A list and highly recommended.”
bit-tech concludes that “providing you get a 2407WFP with the updated firmware and panel, it is a great monitor at a competitive price, and is certainly one that you should be considering it you’re looking to get drawn into the marvels of widescreen gaming. This monitor was fantastic for gaming – widescreen gaming is the way forwards and monitors like the 2407WFP make widescreen gaming a reality. However, if you’re wanting to play games at its native resolution, you’re going to need a fast video card to hook up to it. The only qualms that we have are with banding in synthetic tests and some slight colour compression when looking at high-resolution photographs. We had to say that, given that this price is almost the same as the Samsung 244T, you’d possibly want to consider the Samsung, which has absolutely spot-on colour reproduction – although it only has two side-mounted USB 2.0 ports and no card reader. Also, we’d argue that it doesn’t look quite as nice as the 2407WFP on your desk.”
TrustedReviews reviews Dell Ultrasharp 2407WFP 24in Widescreen and concludes with overall rating of 9 out of 10 that “Dell is an improvement in some areas over its predecessor, namely in design and specification, but thanks to banding issues, it’s a step down from the 2405WFP. However, unless colour accuracy is a priority it’s not something that most people will notice. For general Windows work, gaming and movie watching I found this screen to be fantastic and I’ll certainly rue going back to my 17in LCD when Dell comes-a-calling for it back. Dell has produced another fine large display at a good price, but minor flaws in image quality mean that unless Dell can lower its prices, we recommend going for the Samsung 244T instead.”
ZDnet gives excellent editors’ rating of 8 out of 10 with comment that Dell’s 24-inch wide-screen LCD delivers excellent image quality and a ton of connectivity options, including video inputs and picture-in-picture settings. Add in a great price, and the Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP is the best value in its class.
PC Pro gives 6 stars out of possible 6 to the ultra large Dell LCD and concludes that it’s an update to the 2405FPW, now HDCP compliant and with vastly improved styling at no extra cost – simply stunning. The most noticeable change over the 2405FPW is in the looks: with its silver back panel and attractive stand design, the 2407WFP has genuine style to match its features. Incredibly, it costs under £600. It will take something special to oust it from the A List.
