Heheh. I remember when I had to crack XP even though I have a license.
1) There was no internet service in my area.
2) The phone activation number given by Microsoft for my country can only be called using the fixed line phone. Now, anyone can guess why there’s no internet in the first place: THERE’S NO FIXED LINE SERVICE!
I mean, how stupid is that?
So, I end up using a cracked XP for 3 years until just early last year when there’s finally a fixed phone line in which case I dial up to the Net just to get activated.
So, now Vista is going to phone home once in a while to check the Net… In a country where Internet connection is not available 100% of the time or in all places, this is not possible especially since activation by phone is also made impossible.
Funny enough, we can easily buy pirated XP CD’s. I had to do that even though I have Original licensed XP cds..
Now Vista’s here… here we go again.
And now there’s the DRM stuff. DRM is the reason I buy pirated content, not paying the content creator even ONCE. If there’s no DRM, then no matter how many copies I make for myself, at least I’ve paid ONCE.
So, the DRM forced onto us by content creators forced us to buy pirated stuff and thus support organized crime.
In short, the content creators forced us to support organized crime! Heheh. Once upon a time, the content distributors were organized crime… It’s still true today.
I think they actually just want to sell their content through the undergound network, called it pirated, and avoid paying tax so they’re pissed by bittorent.
I know one producer in my country that actually did that give high quality masters to pirates and take ‘royalties’ from the pirates don’t have to pay the distributors, don’t have to pay tax, and actually reach a wider audience!
Maybe MS is doing that, huh? Force us such a protection that inconvenience us, then protect that so much so those copies from bittorent doesn’t work… but the CD/DVDs bought off pirate shops actually work without problems!
In fact, I even got all those updates from these shops becoz I didn’t have internet to download them in the first place, back then!
