This is just really ridiculous but you will always find people complaining about stuff. Sure you could say “oh Muslims are always complaining about everything (because they aren’t allowed to have sex or to jack off and they are living in sand pits so it’s Friday evening and you can’t either have sex or jack off and then you will also have sand in your ass crack)” but of course that’s not the case. There are always people who will complain about little things and then others will tell them “oh you are right”. I am just thinking about the design Burger King once had for an ice cream cone poster or some paper the cone was wrapped into. It had some weird waves on it and some British Muslim claimed one of the waves looked like the word “Allah” in Arabian and he complained about it. Since Burger King didn’t want to offend Muslim people they changed the design. I don’t think the designers are to blame and Burger King should have had the balls to say “no we won’t change it” but of course they want to be seen as an user friendly company but if you are really complaining about such a thing you are a retard and probably won’t even eat at Burger King just like the people have never been to fifth avenue- I think in those cases the people who are complaining hate America and will never go there and so they will pick up ANYTHING so that they can complain about it- nobody should bother.

This article is ridiculous, and a muslim complaining about any cubic structure resembling the Kaba in Makkah is even more ridicolous.
I wasn’t surprised at all to see this story being reported by MEMRI btw, i know that website and its credentials very well.

While i think getting offended by the Apple store is quite silly,..i also think that making a mockery of sentiments is nasty, on ure part.
what i fail to understand is why the muslims have to be provoked to such a drastic extent. why did it have to be called Apple Mecca? the english language has a fair amount of substitutes. i would think that the Apple people wud be slightly more sensible and a lot more careful.
quite frankly, i think its the worst form of ignorance on part of people with opinion like urs that they cant understand a basic tenant of one of the most significant religions of present: respect! respect for the Prophet PBUH, respect for Allah’s Home and the Sacred MAsjid-e-Haraam and respect in general for the Quran and its teachings. ideally this respect is to be extended to all humanity, its one of the basic Islamic properties. while many muslims fail to acknowledge this last aspect, i dont think the rest of the world was given license to insult our practices. as far as im concerned, all religions have facets which make it complicated for people to understand and appreciate. i dont find it cool to be worshipping stone or fire, or to not shower for a year and then go take a holy bath in a place that stinks up cuz of rotting corpses. but i wont say it, at least not beyond what ive forced myself to say already because i dont know any better. thats, as mum taught me, when i “shut up” and concentrate on myself rather than ridicule anyone else.
westerners, increasingly, however seem to have the passport to disrespecting islam, its either cool or what they may name crusades against a ‘terrorist’ religion,…but for me, its uncalled for. not justifiable, and outrite unfair.
i dont think Apple Mecca should be burned down. certainly not. but some crazed muslim youth who is sick of the insults, of religious thrashing, of hate-crimes, of political animosity just might. i will not justify his/her actions. never. because no matter what anyone says,…i trust what my Book says. i trust that my religion teaches peace and harmony. HOWEVER, i just might think ‘i told u so’ because no matter how strong one may look, constant provoking is likely to end ‘ugly’. why cant all holy things just be left to the muslims to deal with,…why does everyone have to intrude. why is it suddenly encouraged for everyone to crack a joke about ‘them crazed muslim losers’?

I think some muslims have nothing better to do with there mind and time but they just sit and try to make meanings out of every little image or script… how sick it is that someone can even think of comparing anything cubed shaped with KAÁba. i can only say that their faiths are weak!!!

i am a muslim and i think sadaf suhail is right that it is really sick that one can compare a cube building to the holy kaaba. whoever does this is wrong.
i dont know wat these non-muslims have against muslims they think that muslims are trying to terrorize the world and kill everyone else etc, etc. these so called westerner peace keepers think that they are making peace in the world but they are making world a far worse place to live in and when muslims try to defend themselves they say that muslims are terrorists. they citisize islam in many ways such as the most common is viel of muslim women but they dont see that mother teresa was respected due to her viel if she had worn dress like hollywood actress the so called fashion would she have been respected? i dont think so.
these people who critisize muslims are just ignorant people trying to justify themselves as most peaceful and good people when they are the biggest danger to world peace.
they think that when muslims fight in various parts of the world they are terrorizing but they dont think that when a person will be terrorized enough and his home burned and family killed wat other option he has, he will attack with anything he lays hands upon.
when u.s.a wasnt independent and british was ruling over them and imposing heavy taxes and others wrong rules only then the americans revolted. it is a fact that whenever the people get a unjust ruler they revolt like its happening in iraq and afghnistan and other places muslims are revolting against wrong rules and regulations. and these westerners say they are terrorists. ur george washington and others were also terrorists for british as they were against british rule. its the way of looking at the things. these people need to do broaden there thinking and look the other way around think wat it feels to be a muslim when entire world is against u for ur religion but u have satisfied heart because u trust allah will make everything better in the end.

I am amazed at the numerous ways AllAh (creator and sustainer of the Universe) is getting people to respond to Islam. In the seventies the word Mecca was often used to describe a trading place worth visiting (Car mecca) a mecca for tourists etc and no muslim once took offence (to my knowledge), the focus today has changed drastically (since khomeini and all the post Khomieni events is creating awareness of Islam, and now the Apple Store is bringing attention to Islam. The result millions have accepted Islam.

MEMRI is a pro-Israel group that specializes in finding material in the Arabic and Persian press that it can “translate” in order to cast Arabs and other Muslims in a bad light. Read their news releases with that in mind.

The NYC Apple Store closely resembles the Kaaba? No, the apple store closely resembles a three dimentional geometric shape knowned widely as a cube. So do the Kaaba. As far as I know, cubes have been around longer than the Muslim faith. I just wish more people could be more open minded about their faiths instead of being offended by the slightest thing.

It is not Muslims are complaining about the cublical structure that resemble Kaba in the Mecca it the because the name which the apple is using. Just change the name and everything will be fine.

Hi, I agree 100% with Aisha (31st Oct 2006) - not only the name John, I think even the colour should be changed - Apple is anyways well known for the colour white, rather than black - why give anyone a chance to point out and claim that it looks like the Kaaba? imagine making a public bathroom or a butchery shop that looks like a church or just has a cross on it’s roof! and then ppl blame Muslims for bringing down the twin towers and get the excuse to bomb n blast their countries… with such acts of ignorance and insensitivity towards Islam by the Americans, what do you expect from Muslims, a box of chocolates??? and besides, what is so amazingly cool for Apple about a cube in black anyways? it’s just another pinch for a Muslim, that’s all.

Its all about how people interpret ideas thoughts or works that have already been made. The Ka’ba as the muslim scriptures and history tells was completed by their last prophet. Now if a glass box resembles it why should they be angry. To think about a magician holding a glass box, its a cube also but small in size. What would they call that? Trying to be god ?

salam (peace) everyone out there, to me it is understatement think that a wise muslim with good knowlegde of Islam to think that way, if they are complaing about such place then they should take over spain where most of islamic historial place has been converted. beside, this people should fight the jihad of their heart rather than causing more trouble for the sincere muslim that not got anyhing to wih killing of innocent souls. My brothers my advice to you is that fighting you soul for paradise is far better than condeming people and killing innocent souls either phiscally or by back biting even causing problem in the society. From story of the prophet (SAW) when a jewish man use to trash and faces on his way he clears them beside when this person was sick the prophet visted him is that not a enough to show how thw prophet live a good life within the non muslim. my fellow muslim pls for Allah sake let us make the world a place to live for there is no God woth of worship except Allah. peace is all we need
