This was a misinterpretation..
Muslims thought that it was going to be a bar and the owners were naming it after a holy place.. Makkah. And seeing that it was built into the shape of a kabah made them believe that it was offending their religion.

If the name Mecca or Ka’ba only belong to stupid moslem, why they do not apply for a trademark for the name. So any other attempt to use that name will have a copyright infringement.
Like Microsoft once do to the word Windows.
But I think moslem are too stupid to do that. They better blast a hotel or a tourist place with a suicide bomb.

Salam,

First of all, no educated Muslim will be offended by a cubical structure. Like someone else said, Islam doesn’t have a patent to cubed architectural structures, loool!

Secondly, westerners have long used the word “mecca” to describe any place where many people come to. I can understand a problem with this…as it is an politically incorrect use of the word and may offend Muslims.

Thirdly, people need to stop being so sensitive and act like they are always victims. If you are offended by Apple’s NY store, I assume you have a very strong faith. If this is the case, you should be busy with other things intead of this nonsense.

Lastly, what the heck are people saying about a ‘bar’? looool. There is no bar! Expensive computers/ipods and alcohol isn’t a good mixture. And if there were a bar…so what?

This is Adnan and i am Muslim as well, i am not in NY not even in USA so first need to confirm that is this place working as Bar, if it is i reuest you all, why not use this extra ordinary design for any other purpose.

If it hurting any human, please take some time to rethink and don’t give blames to anyone.

Solution: if this place is a bar, should be used for anyother usage, because alcohal is not allowed even in our religion, where as this building look like the most important religious building, and already created confusion in our minds, so why not using the building for other purposes, like for some office.

Please dont use for abuse.

First of all, all these Muslims being offended by this need to check the reality of the facts before they speak up and make idiotic clames (or even worst – riots about it in remote area like Kashmir).

Remember many published authentic hadith about the matter based on which fiqh rulings is derived:

1. Order to verify the fact before transmitting it. If you don’t verify it, you will be responsible for slandering of other party.

This is a cube shaped retail and tech support store that has nothing to do with Kabba. Therefore, there is no issue with any of this and nobody is to blame for it as they are doing nothing wrong. It is a new century and the location and the shape of the structure perfectly fit the environment around it. There should be no offense to anyone. Please leave this matter alone and move on with your life. There is more important things you have to do with your time.

- Have you memorized last Juzz?
- Have you understood different teachings of aqeeda’s and figure out the correct one.
- Have you understood all potential flavors of shirk and way to protect yourself from it.
- Have you understood the fundamentals of fiqh and science of hadith
- Have you worked on your Ahlaq
- Have you worked on fixing your heart
- When was the last time you prayed Tahajjud, stayed reading Quran after Fajr, attended scholars speech (halaqa) between Maghrib and Isha in the mosque.

I guarantee you once you complete the list above you will have no time to discuss such non-sense as issue of Apple’s store in NY.

First of all to the guy who can barely speak or spell english “zeeshan”… dude they are not putting the picture under the glass cube as to say its lower or anything, its some1 showing u if u can compare toeh 2 things as offeensive or not… another point id like to make, who gives a fuck if its the same shape as makka, at the end of the day, u cant stop people from making a building or a cube in the same shape as makka coz makka looks like it, who gives a fuck, in the end makka will remain makka… and to all the muslims who are huffin and puffin about it, get a fucken break coz if any1 in this world likes to discriminate other religions its the muslims… for example “zeeshan” straight away says, if we want me make public toilets lookin like church… get a life man coz just from that comment i can see the racism in ur… they didnt make a GLASS JEMEE (ISLAM CHURCH)… i recon ur all nothin but a bunch of try hard wankers who try to make a major problem over nothin really… soon they wont let us walk bare footed coz they walk into their church bare footed… get a life wankers.

This is really a STUPID act “made by apple”..
Muslims are not offended by this strange construction because it looks like makkah, the offense is that they called it “Makkah”.
Makkah is a very sacred and special place to Muslims, so apple will do good by keeping it’s stupid-looking cube but they have no god damn right to use the name makkah.
I just wonder how can the people at apple be so genius to design a Mac, and at the same time so STUPID to fall into very small, shallow, narrow-minded act of just wanting to offence Muslims by using the name of their sacred place.
