Windows Vista Release Candidate 2 (Windows Vista RC2) build 5744-16384 has been released by Microsoft. Windows Vista RC2 is likely to be the last non-final or non-RTM (release to manufacturing or gone gold) version of the Windows Vista operating system. Windows Vista RC2 fixes many bugs found in RC1 and implements thousands of quality improvements that hope to improve on OS stability, performance upgrade and application compatibility, compared with Windows Vista RC1.
Windows Vista RC2 is available for public free download at Microsoft Windows Vista RC2 site for Customer Preview Program (CPP) users. RC2 is also available via TAP testers, MSDN/TechNet subscribers and technical beta testers and Microsoft Connect.
Windows Vista (v5744-16384) is available in English 32-bit (X86) and English 64-bit (X64) edition. You can download the ISO file of Windows Vista which to be burned to a DVD directly below.

The download size of Windows Vista is huge, so you may opt to download the Windows Vista ISO with Akamai Download Manager which allows users to pause, resume, and stop the download of the file, with the ability to automatically restart the download when the process is interrupted.
Important note is that Microsoft has issued the following warning for RC2: This build may not have the same level of support or servicing via Windows Update as RC1, and you may not be able to upgrade from this build to the final version of Windows Vista. So you want to upgrade directly to Windows Vista final RTM version, instead of fresh install or clean install Windows Vista OS again, use RC1.

ZDNet installs and reviews Windows Vista RC2 x64 Ultimate edition on Intel Pentium 4 model 630 based computer and concludes that the system was for the most part very responsive and I was hoping to make the system even more responsive by sticking in a fast 2 GB Compact Flash card. Unfortunately my USB 2.0 interface on my motherboard isn’t the greatest hardware in my experience and it failed the requirements to run ReadyBoost. Almost all of the core hardware is working fine but you might still run in to some obscure printer or scanner that might lack 64 bit drivers. While problems with 64 bit will be rare, it is frequent enough to be a problem. RC2 isn’t ready yet but it’s close. hey…the links for rc2 everywhere i’ve tried (here, fileforum.betanews.com, etc) have taken me to the rc1 site, w/ no dl. i’ve got virtual pc ‘04 and wanna run it and see how it is before i burn it and make it a full os. let me kno how to get it. I WANNA TRY IT OUT!! lol.

No, Microsoft have not yet placed a link to RC2 on their website, for now they are sticking with RC1, and releasing RC2 to MSDN Subscribers, but if you want a sneak preview of RC2 then you can download it from http://www.demonoid.com/files/download/HTTP/486279/11199636

you can use google for example to search for the torrent file for RC2.. it was wath i did. i am using rc2 for about 3 weeks and i am very satisfied with it. my only problem was with audio drivers for my creative sb live! 5.1…i can’t use it correctly for some things..but i have sound now lol
