HardwareZone reviews Dell XPS M1210 laptop with the configuration of a T2600 Core Duo processor, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, a 7200RPM hard drive and a GeForce Go7400 graphics card, and concludes that “while these specifications may be excessive for some, we feel users should really consider pumping in just that bit more money to get the most from the M1210 platform. For example, the base version only comes with an Intel GMA950 graphics, so gaming is effectively ruled out. Overall, the Dell XPS M1210 is a nicely crafted and designed package that’s favorably packed with features. If you are an executive who leads an exciting gaming life after 5pm, the Dell XPS M1210 is a fine notebook to indulge your money in. Even strict white-collar workers will find the portability, performance and value of a plainly configured M1210 too tempting to disregard.”

PC Magazine gives very good editors’ rating of 4 out of 5 and concludes that Dell’s latest XPS is a notebook for anyone who has a specific yearning for power, connectivity, and ultra-lightweight portability. The notebook is good for ultralight for flights, built-in EV-DO, discrete graphics, superior horsepower and vivid display. But it runs hot.

NotebookReview reviews Dell XPS M1210 with 1.66GHz Core Duo Processor and concludes that this is the best ultraportable notebook to date hands down! Its small, very fast, and lightweight. It can play games. Keyboard and mouse rock. Battery life of 6hrs+, good HD choices size/speed in build process. Fast DDR2 memory. However, M1210 lacks of good software pre-installed with the system, expensive, blue lights on front that may drains battery life and it’s been really hard to find anything bad to say about this notebook.

    Hi StarCruiser,

I would suggest to contact DELL Customer Service and seek assistance as soon as possible.

I am hoping that you have bought the coverage for any of the hardware problems .. if so, they should help you on that matter.

    Rgds,

To my badluck, while visiting Dubai in April 2007, I purchased a brand new packed DELL XPS 1210 at a high premium price! but in about a year’s time, my NoteBook has absolutely stopped functioning.

    The problems are:
    - Battery is completely dead (It does not charge and the computer has been running on AC power since last three months)
    - The Screen had developed two lines since 3 months of purchase of NoteBook
    - Now the Screen is totally blanked out (BLACK) and NoteBook was being only running on an external LCD.
    - However since two (2) weeks, even this has stopped working
    - And I have got blue screen with message “HARDWARE MEMORY ERROR”, contact manufacturer.

I am unable to access my very valueable office and private data. This DELL NOTEBOOK has become completely OUT OF ORDER in about a year’s time. I only wonder, is this the quality of a world renowned machine?

I had my note book inspected by the distributor Shahnawaz (Dell Distributor and Service Center in Pakistan) , who informed that the motherboard is faulty, screen is faulty and battery is dead!! I have purchased this expensive Notebook on 10th April 2007 and in approx one year the note book is finished, not useable? All my investment in the DELL brand has gone wasted?

What should I do now, throw the expensive notebook in trash can and buy a new DELL Notebook?

Can somebody comment or help me out?

I have had one of these for 6 months now. Its far and away the best notebook I’ve ever used. In fact its the best computer!
Loads of great features like: I can pup a phone sim card in it and have direct broad band from an antenna mounted in the screen. It has a button underneath beside the batter, when I press it it gives me a battery meter, it has wi-fi catcher so I can leave the machine off and a light will come on to tell me there is wi-fi available.
Its just packed with everything you could want in a tiny package (its footprint is the size of an A4 sheet of paper)
    Great machine
