Criss Angel Walks on Water Magic Tricks
Criss Angel born Christopher N. Sarantakos is an American musician, magician, illusionist, escapologist, stunt performer, and the creator and director of the Criss Angel Mindfreak television series on A&E Network. Now he is trying to simulate and replay what Jesus Christ did more than 2000 years ago, by walking on water, in a magic and illusion performance that’s stunning.
What’s the secret of Criss Angel walks on water magic trick? How he does it? The secret will most likely points to illusion and camera video editing. The most convincing explaination to the trick is that Criss Angel was walking on some kind of floating device, or plexiglass, or transparent plastic bridge, or glass path, or vertical poles, which may have some gaps for swimmers to occasionally swin across it. Some also suggested that wires support was been used to hang him, which may be positioned under his arm, especially on the first 25 seconds or so. For all these tricks and optical illusion to happen, so all the ‘audiences’ and ’swimmers’ in the vidoe are actually the actors in the magic that were hired to add realistic and believable feel. The video may be edited by using CGI to hide the think platform in the water.
Some even suggested that the shots were taken on different times that is edited together to give you that illusion of reality. The theory is that because at some times he demonstrated no weight hitting the surface, while on the far away shots, his weight is visible as he hits a surface. Another theory is that the toes on his back foot bend as walking on a flat surface, while on another sequence of the video which supposedly shot from Criss Angel’s camera as he looks down while walking, his toes no longer bend.
Some interesting points highlighted from the video on the magic are:
- Criss Angel walked on his heels and his pant hung down and covered the heels.
- His walking style looks unreal and unnatural on the front part of the magic.
- The girl in red bikini swam underneath the water instead of crossing the path.
- Water line on his pants changed, if you believe that the magic sequence was shot in multiple times.
- A girl crossed between his legs after he took down his shoes, so the area may be without any platform.
- In some shots, Criss Angel didn’t show weight hitting or weight shifting when stepped down, which made suspension possible.
- His feet seemed like not stay in a position when stepping.

I will tell you all skeptics one thing and one thing only. Till the day you actually see him in action you will continue doubting him and purporting theories about how fake he is. And then one day if you are lucky you will bump into his act in Vegas and see for yourself what he does and then you will still question it. The thing is that most people know he is an illusionist and what he does is not real. However no one can deny that he is a truly gifted illusionist and probably even a mass hypnotist. To suggest things like everyone’s an actor and the whole thing is setup showcases a limited imagination. Just admit that certain things can’t be deciphered and will have no explanation that WE can figure out. He is human alright but a tremendously gifted one. What about using aerogels? They are super light and basically invisible. This would make it possible for him to do the trick publicly in any water and be far more impressive than if he only did it in set locations with a lot of prep time. Look aerogels up and you will see that those could work.

Okay..here goes. Each step lands him on an individual small clear platform which is mounted to the bottom of the pool. The “actors” swimming around are for show and cameras only. He can identify the placement of each platform because each is marked with something he can clearly see through the glasses he always wears while “walking” on water. Guys My uncle is Criss Angel. He is an illusionist!Int he walk on water thing he didnt use special shoes that look like his feet. he learned how to walk on a wire for this trick and with the water it makes it easier to balance. There is a few platforms though. They are small sqyares floating under the water. this is used if he starts to get wobbly and needs support. So there is no such thing as magic and most of his tricks are all fake. (the audience is in on it) Hope that cleared things up. i my self do a lot of magic and in this trick there is no platform under neath criss it is simply his shoes and i no that u say he takes OFF his shoes but that is the trick… the shoes that he takes off are simply just a throw off… what appear to be his feet are actaully the real shoes. its a special scientificly designed shoe that creates and allows u to literally walk on water… its hard to explain it but its real… he just had them designed by professionals to make them look exactly like his real feet…

by the way… the scene with the girl in the red swimsuit swimming beneath him is one of the shots where hs is dangling from something above supporting his weight so there is no need for a weght bearing structure beneath the water for that shot. so, sory collin, since you are with the crew, it’s obviously your job to perpetuate the illusion, but you also know how fake it is. ok first he fills the pool with a bunch of actors. it’s hard to tell that they are actors but there are 2 dead givaways that the people in the pool are actors. 1. he comments that it’s really cold and he can’t believe that people are in the pool. well duh, you paid them to be there. 2. a girl is playing with a BEACH BALL!! when was the last time you saw anyone with a beach ball? let alone a grown woman? ok so it’s an obvious prop, giving away the obvious setup-ness of the illusion. after that, the rest is easy, some water colored or translucent structure just beneath the surface of the water to bear his weight, edited together with some scenes of him dangling (obviously hanging from something) over water but obviously not actually putting his weight down. voila! bad illusion!!

Criss Angel CLEARLY cannot actually walk on water, get sawed in half, or make an elephant actually disappear, but at the same time you cannot say that he’s fake. He is a magician/illusionist, that’s all there is to it. He is an entertainer. He does not have superpowers. However, he is still an absolutely incredible magician, one of the best there has ever been. I believe that his tricks are not achieved through camera tricks, and i also believe that it is all done for a live audience. Criss has been doing magic for a long long time, and I think that he would be too proud as a magician to use camera tricks, because through that, absolutely anything is possible, there isnt even really a trick there.

All right, you cought us. We think that Chris is fake, so, OBVIOUSLY, we are simply jelous of his gorgeousness, and his “talent”.
But really, water isn’t dense enough to suppors his weight, especially if it’s consentrated on his two feet.

The pants hanging over his heels is to cover thin transparent drywall style stilts as well as to create a tiny stream of water to hide this.in the first part his shoes split apart at the heel.he is holding the stilts in his toes. Se necesita ser muy ingenuo como para creer que lo que realiza Chris Angel es auténtica magia o algo por el estilo. Sin embargo, tengo que reconocer que sus videos son bastante sugestivos y pueden causar mucha impresión. Me gustaría verlo en vivo y en directo porque creo que el asunto sería diferente. Es un magnífico ilusionista pero no como para ser tratado casi de manera reverencial como lo hacen sus incindicionales seguidores. Por lo demás, me seguiré divirtiendo con sus ilusiones.

i have been watching criss angel mindfreak for almost a year now….all i have to say is….criss angel is AMAZING!!……anyone that has anything else to say about him is crazy!the stunts he does seem so real. who cares about all the people that say he is a fake?!?!? they are just jealous because they are not as talented and gorgeous as he is!!!

I think Criss is wonderful! My son and I just discovered him & he is the most fascinating person I have ever seen! I just watched the video on this site about him walking on water & it appeared very real and not rigged to me!
