Official Ways to Disable or Manually Uninstall the Microsoft Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications from Microsoft
Microsoft has released step-by-step removal instructions to disable or manually uninstall pilot or pre-release version of Microsoft Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) Notifications (KB905474) which is versions that range from 1.5.0527.0 to 1.5.0532.2, although the instructions can also be used to uninstall the updated release and general release of the anti-piracy tool, but it will not be supported. Instead, Microsoft recommends to install general release of WGA Notifications (1.5.0540.0) to replace and uninstall the pre-release version during the pilot program.

Ok.. lets discuss the statement from MS regarding “removing WGA voids any support” QUESTION.. has anyone ever tried getting support from Microsoft? It suckier then then their operating system! I really wish people would try Linux (ITS FREE!!), & its a lot more stable, more safer from virus attacks because every hacker wants to show Microsoft they’re software is not what MS claims it is (Better, safer, & stable). Anyone ever buy a Windows Based Brand New system from (say) Dell,HP, you name em. MS fills them full of bloatware you’ll never need or use. ITS GARBAGE & THEY’RE CROOKS. Not to mention they have hidden DOS folders that also hold your Internet Cache files. Now ask yourself, “why would they do that”? My guess is.. after about a yr of using your computer for surfing the internet, your computer will get slower.. and slower. You wont consider the cache because you think you’ve been emptying it. But you only emptied the Windows cache, & knew nothing about the 2 DOS hidden folders. Check it out for yourselfs.

Thanks very much. Works on version 1.8.31.9
The only difference is that the last reg entry HKEY\Micro\win\CurrentVersion\removeremove\WgaNotify does not exist on this version.
I have legit WinXpPro and made substantial changes to my hardware and the dam thing tried to tell me I had counterfeit Windows, Microsucks would do nothing to help fix this problem other than expect me to pay them even more money for something I already paid too much for anyways, in my opinion this is extortion and we the legal owners of MS products should boycott them in every way we can!

I can’t see Windows Genuine Advantage Notification in control panel…
March 1st, 2009 00:49
I followed all of the instructions except for uninstalling the actual program (it does not show up anywhere in the add/remove programs list), but WGA is still popping up when I log in. I have checked and made sure that everything was still deleted and am not sure what else I should do. Any suggestions? I cannot stand Microsoft customer support and hate having to continuously register my legit version of windows for no reason.

my XP is always genuine, it’s just something i make sure comes with my computer, what annoys me is that i just updated this computer with the latest MS updates (which on principle i usually ignore) and it offeres Windows malware and spyware protection while installing it’s own windows malware and spyware…. under the name of Windows Genuine Advantage.
i resent the lack of trust and the intrusion into my computer. I do not allow it internet access at all my firewall blocks it, but i still feel that i should be able to uninstall it, whether it’s version 1.5 or as i have version 1.8
