If you’re still having problems with this, I’ve also written a (still) working fix to rid your system of this nag and privacy concern. I’m also hosting a mirror to RemoveWGA (two versions), as well as a Russian hosted mirror of all the above! There is even some nice fan mail from “James Young - Internet Investigator”…

[...] Ärgernis des Tages: Die “Windows Genuine Advantage Notification”. Das ist eine lästige kleine Software, die sich nach einem Windows-Update einklinkt (sofern man diese heruntergeladen hat, versteht sich) und überprüft, ob Windows original ist. Wenn nicht, meldet sich das Ding alle Nase lang lautstark zu Wort.

Lustigerweise (und beabsichtigt!) funktioniert die Deinstallation über “Software” nicht. Aber zum Glück kann man da ja selbst Hand anlegen und sowohl die WGALogon.dll und die WGATray.exe wieder vom System verbannen, ist nur etwas aufwendiger. Wer sich die Mühe nicht machen will, findet sicher auch andere Wege, um das Ding zu umgehen… [...]
