Dell PowerVault 110T LTO-3 Ultrium 3 Tape Drive Review by IT Week

Dell PowerVault 110T LTO Ultrium 3 tape drive supports Ultrium 3 LTO format cartridges media and has a native storage capacity of 400 GB. 110T has native maximum transfer rate of 80MB/s and native maximum backup rate of 288GB/hr. The Dell PowerVault 110T is connected by LVD SCSI interface to the server to optimum transfer rate. Internal and external model of the tape drive is available.

IT Week reviewed and tested the drive using a Pentium III server with a 32bit PCI bus. The PowerVault 110T copied the contents of the hard disk, 24.5GB of data, in one hour and 25 minutes, and copied a single 6.35GB directory of multimedia files in 15 minutes and 16 seconds. All tests were conducted using Win2000 Server’s integrated Backup utility with compression and verification turned off. IT Week concludes that PowerVault 110T Ultrium 3 is relatively expensive, but the PowerVault 110T has a big capacity and uses low-cost storage media.
