Install Windows Media Player 11 Bypass Windows Genuine Advantage WGA Validation Workaround
Microsoft has released Windows Media Player 11 (WMP 11) beta which is available for direct full download from Windows Media Player Download page (no validation required), or Microsoft Download Center (WGA validation required – for ways to bypass WGA validation, visit here). However, even if you managed to download Windows Media Player 11, there is a built-in WGA that check whether your Windows is genuine or not when trying to install as WMP 11 is designated by Microsoft for users running genuine Microsoft products or genuine Windows.
If you failed the WGA validation when installing Windows Media Player 11, you will get the following error message:
Setup cannot continue
One or more of the following problem has occurred during Setup.Windows Genuine Advantage Validation
Setup was unable to validate that your copy of Windows is genuine. Click Finish to close setup and navigate your web browser to the Windows Genuine Advantage Website for additional information.
The best way to get Windows Media Player 11 beta to install, of course, is to get the Windows validated. However, for whatever reasons, if you still still want to install WMP11, there are workaround ways to bypass and disable the WGA validation check during setup installation process: (Not valid for the latest WMP11 final gold product, which need a crack legitlibM.dll. Visit here or comment 76 for crack instruction.)
- Download WMP11 from the Microsoft website stated above.
- Download WinRAR and install WinRAR extraction tool.
- Extract the WMP11 installer by using WinRAR or PowerArchiver to a directory (e.g. wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu). You can right click on the setup file and choose any Extract option or launch the extraction utility and choose the WMP11 setup file to extract it.
- Download legitlib.dll_CRACKED.rar (legitlib.dll contained in RAR archive) and extract it.
- Copy the extracted legitlib.dll and paste legitlib.dll into the extracted directory of WMP11 installer. Overwrite any existing file.
- Run setup_wm.exe by double clicking.
- Install Windows Media Player 11 Beta accordingly
If you still having validation error, try to replace both LegitCheckControl.dll in \Windows\System32 directory and legitlib.dll. Cracked and patched version of LegitCheckControl.dll and legitlib.dll can be downloaded here, here, here or here (links obsolete, check out crack method for WMP11 RTM Final or use registry hack to install).
Alternatively, some users reported that by split WMP11 installer into several setup components, it’s about to install Windows Media Player 11 proper bypassing the WGA validation:
- Same as above, extract WMP11 installer using WinRAR or PowerArchiver from wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe
- In the extraction folder, install (run) wmp11.exe and then restart Windows.
- Next, again in the extraction folder, install umdf.exe, wmdbexport.exe and wmfdist11.exe and then restart Windows.
- Using WinRAR or PowerArchiver, extract the contents of wmp11.exe
- Locate the update folder from the extraction from wmp11.exe and run update.exe inside the update folder.
If the above steps are not working and Windows Media Player 11 won’t play properly, try the following instructions:
- Rename wmplayer.exe in C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\ folder to any other file name.
- Extract wmp11.exe which located inside your first WMP11 installer extracted folder.
- Locate wmplayer.exe from extracted wmp11.exe folder and copy it to the C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\ folder.
It seems like there are many different sequences and steps to achieve the installation of WMP11 without WGA, another one as follow:
- Extract wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe
- Execute wmp11.exe from the extracted folder, and follow the instruction to install.
- Execute wmfdist11.exe and follow the instruction to install.
- Extract wmp11.exe
- Execute unregmp2 from the wmp11.exe extracted folder.
Or else, there are cracked or hacked version of no WGA Windows Media Player 11 installer where you can install WMP 11 straight away, even on non-genuine Windows XP or OS with validation errors or invalid product key. Download patched no-WGA Windows Media Player 11 Beta build 11.0.5358.4827 here or here or here (links obsolete, visit download final RTM release of WMP11 and workaround to install WMP11). Extract the zip file and run setup_wm.exe to install WMP11 proper.
Above is WMP11 application specific way to crack WGA in order to download and install WMP11, another way is, of course, to make your Windows genuine.

Simple and efective way to crack Windows media player 11 to Work on Ilegal copies of Windows.
1- Unplug ur internet cable
2-Extract the archive with Winrar.
3-Install the Windows Media player 11 Runtime -wmfdist11.exe from the extracted archive

To Manu, your links to make Windows 100% genuine are bad. They probably got put down by Microsoft.
Anyways, I followed this method and it worked.
“This is what I did.
1. download wmp 11 from microsoft (or let your computer download and install it for you).
2. install it up until you get the window ready to validate your computer.

4. rename LegitLibM.dll to LegitLib.dll (just take off the ‘m’)

But I had to actually extract the setup file at first and then run wmp11.exe in there before so that LegitLibM.dll appeared in my program files folder.
But whatever. Now it works.

A more easy way to hack WMP 11 is to go to WMP 11 folder and delete the file with an icon named setup_wm and close the folder afterwards open the folder and click straightaway on ‘WMPlayer’ icon which starts the WMP 11. The most simple method!!!!

ignore my previous post, whilst trying to get it to work earlier i had ovewritten the legitlibm.dll fle with a cracked one from soewhere (version 1.4xxx)

i stupidly updated my beta version of WMP11 forgetgin about the validation
it installed but now i get a scren saying it needs to validate and when i click ‘Validate’ it doesn’t work… not surprising
i’ve tried renaming the legitlibm.dll file but no luck
is there some way i can remove the installation?
in add./remove programs it has WMP11 and WMP11 runtime which i presume is the installer, i can’t seem to get rid of either of these

For those having problems installing Media Player 11 due to the silly validation function, here is a full install without the operating validation process (it bypasses).
Download, extract with WinRAR, password is wmp. Just run the setup_wm.exe file and install normally. Tested on WinXP, various configurations and systems, all worked.

some ppl are SO thick, if you cant do a simple thing get a legitimate copy of windows xp.
Heres an EASY guide for those idiots:
If you’ve already installed WM11 go to STEP 2.
STEP 1: go to the old windows media player(WM10), go to tools–>options and click on ‘check for updates once a day.’ press apply and ok.
after a short time a window appears asking if you want to upgrade to a newer version, click ok.
let it download and install it, then after
installation restart your PC.
STEP 2:
Start–>Search. click ‘all files and folders’ then search for LegitLibM.dll.(its in C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player)
After it is found, right click and rename it to legitlib.dll
STEP 3:
Run WM11, click on validate, it may say ‘unable to validate’ (but thats a fake message it still works, just click ok) then it will go on to settings and after you do that your ready to go!
If it doesnt work then your not doing it right and you need to see a Dr ASAP.

If you cant download the lEgbit.dll file open the existing one in wm player eleven (11) folder with notepad.Delete everything inside notepad you see and save the file as all files like the other one legbit.dll (something like that).when you start installing it will say unable to validate and will install windows media player 11.

Copy the extracted legitlib.dll and paste legitlib.dll into the extracted directory of WMP11 installer. Overwrite any existing file.
Run setup_wm.exe by double clicking.
Install Windows Media Player 11 Beta accordingly
Works with latest download but change legitlib.dll to legitlibM.dll

The file to be replaced after unrar is LegitLibM.dll not legitlib.dll.
So, copy the file legitlib.dll in the install dir and rename it to LegitLibM.dll and it will work

I’m trying to uninstall the windows media player 11, because I can’t upgrade my creative mp3-players firmware. I followed windows update’s instruction for rollback, but after restarting the “11-player” is still there.

Ok, Everything FINALLY WORKED after the TWO Steps needed for WMP11 Beta 2:
1. Extract WMP11
2. Replace the LegitLibM.dll
3. Download a patched version of LegitCheckControl.dll with the LegitCheckControl.inf
4. Replace the new files in Windows/System32
5. Run the wmp setup.exe that you extracted, and it magically works yay!

“legitlib.dll” must be renamed to “LegitLibM.dll” for Beta 2 (overwrite file) .. the first method (obviously) works only for people that do NOT have windows validation installed on their box .. hope that helps

the noobest way to install wm11 without wga is by downloading the legitlib.dll as above story has links to, then extract the wm11 setup file,remove the LegitLibM.dll and rename the legitlib.dll to that name and run setup_wm, voalla!!!!

I personally reccomend the second method – manual installation. Works great…although I have a peice of advise;
In my case, I could not manually open wmdbexport.exe. However, if all other steps are followed, everything will work fine.

hye, i disable Windows validation test by another method you posted in another topic then like tried installing wmp 11 everything was well and fine till the last part where they ask -how do you want to begin and there r like two options however in both case the finish button dosent work….then i tried for the method 1 here and the links dosent work as for the rest i really didn understand what you mean like when i click wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe it self extracts and i don have ne options as to specify where to extract and the next thing i know is the installations has begun…plz help me out i like so want to brag that i too have wmp 11 in my pc…thanks again!

Hi Jace, a few things to check if your Media Guide or Radio Tuner doesn’t work:
1. make sure you’re connected to Internet and your connection settings in IE is correct.
2. check if you have turned off Active Scripting within IE’s Tools -> Options -> Internet Options -> Security Settings dialog. It need to be enable for Media Guide and Radio Tuner to work.
3. check if your security software such as Proximatron and AdSubtract break or block the Radio Tuner.
4. check if your Group Policy or Local Policy (gpedit.msc) has locked the user into a skin using the “Set and lock skin” policy. This eliminates access to the Media Guide and Radio Tuner from within the player.

I did a search and most of the errors happens on wmplayer.exe, so I am not sure if the solution helps. Try to connect to Internet, and launch WMP11 right after install before you reboot your PC. If not, then try to execute wmfdist11.exe to see if it’s working after that.
You can also try to delete all files in \Program Files\Windows Media Player, and reinstall WMP 11. Or try to run c:\windows\inf\unregmp2.exe /UpdateWMP from Run text box.

I have tried the first method a couple of times now, and it works almost perfect installing wmp 11. But when I try to start the progam afterwards, it says:
“The file wmplock.dll has a version number of 11.0.5358.4827 where 10.0.0.3646 was expected”
Doesn’t that mean that it tries to recognize wmp 10? Can anoyone help me fix it.
