LG KG800 Chocolate Phone Review by Tech Digest

LG-KG800 is a slider mobile phone from LG Chocolate Black series. KG800 Chocolate phone features a “hidden” display which consists of touch keypads that remain unseen when not in use and will glow red when active. Other features are pretty standard with 2″ 256k LCD colour display, 1.3 megapixel camera, digital audio MP3, WMA, AAC support and 128MB memory. LG-KG800 has dimension of 9.5 x 4.8 x 1.5cm and weighes approximately 85g.
Tech Digest reviewed LG KG800 Chocolate phone and concluded that “we like this phone a lot and LG has good reason to expect the Chocolate to fly off the shelves. While it might not appeal to those who want their handsets to come brimming with technical goodies, there is no arguing that it looks fantastic and is sure to succeed on that factor alone.”

Hey I have the LG chocolate as well and am having the same problems as everyone else.. I DID at one point get the media storage software from bell to work, but it only worked the one time. After that, whenever I open the program it says it cannot find any phone connected to the computer.
The computer did find and install drivers but still nothing, I cannot find the phone as a removeable device or anything i don’t know what’s going on.
There are no errors on my phone, it says that it’s connected but still nothing
I would really love to get this to work if anyone has any answers please help! thanks! i appreciate it

I just purchased an LG800 and have been trying to place songs from my CDs to the phone. Can this be done and if so how? I got the Music Backup file from Bell but I can’t move songs to this program from my CDs.

I got this working. My kid got an LG800 Chocolate from Solo and we are now able to upload music to the phone AND get the pics off the phone without using the internet, wireless access or bluetooth.
For the music backup software, visit the site suggested above: http://www.bell.ca/support/PrsCSrvWls_Ftrs_MusicTransfer.page You will need to palce the phone in download mode by pressing 9 on the menu, and then scrolling down to media storage. plug in the USB cable, and then press 1 to disable receiving calls while the USB is plugged in. ONce you’ve done that, the music backup software works just fine.
the pics are harder…go to this site for instructions… http://www.expansys.ca/ft.aspx?k=66257 I played with this awhile before I got it working and am not sure whether it was the upper set of instructions that worked or the lower. dork that i am, I tried the upper set of instructions without pressing the view button, as instructed, and then installed the drivers from the site referenced in the second set, but in the end installing bitpim and pressing view was enough to get me into the file system of the phone and copy the pics (one at a time, and paibfully slow, but still bypassing the *&^(*&^%$# service provider and their fees

The music updater only works with putting music onto the phone. We are all trying to figure out how to take the video from it.
Very shitty phone from Bell. As soon as my plan ends I’m heading straight over to Rogers. Even a Bell Mobility employee I know uses Telus!

Yo guys I’ve found a workin site that has the software for the Lg phone (LG 800)! http://www.bell.ca/support/PrsCSrvWls_Ftrs_MusicTransfer.page
This is the link to the download. The file will be called Music Backup application. Just download and install. This will make your LG 800 from a phone to a fully functional multimedia player!

My LG 800 phone won’t show up on my driver’s list. My phone company people told me I have to download the driver from the site. Can’t find it on their LGE.com site
I cannot get this site to work
http://uk.lgmobile.com/webwar/data/phones/UK/EN/UK00000018/KG800_UK.zip
(”Error 404–Not Found” when i open it)
The toll free number on LG’s website won’t work either.
This is the crappiest experience ever.
Can anyone help?

so i bought a new lg 800 phone, and i was so happy. that was saturday and today is monday and i realise the phone has to go back.
the phone does not take mp3s form to computer to the phone and if it did theres a data xfer fee by my provider (aliant). the only option i have to upload mp3s to the phone is to buy them from the mobile store.
as well, i can not get my pics (as aliant does not support the lg version that has removeable memory) unless i email them to their server or myself, at a small cost to me as well.
i pay enough for the service that i really don’t want to be paying for all the extras, which should be free, like with any other phone.
so to all of you who soent too many hours thinking “there’s got to be a way!”, give up, theres not…

I have LG Chocolate 800, do I have to have the internet to download music and transfer pictures to my PC or is there a driver that I can download?
October 31st, 2007 03:48
Same boat here… Can’t seem to get thr drivers for the LG 800… Computer doesn’t recognize it as a mass storage devce, BUT I CAN transfer music using the file transfer software brom Bell (which is clearly designed to not allow you to upload ringers).
On a brighter note, I just subscribed to internet on my phone and can now upload my pictures to my content page and save them to my computer.
However,
WHERE CAN I GET DRIVERS?!?
I Want some free ringers!!!!

Hey, I am having the same problem as other people seem to have with getting music on the phone. I got my Lg 800 Chocolate today and want to get some music and other ring tones on there. Bell Aliant said they had never recideved the cds with the software on it, so i have no idea where to get it.
my emial is dan–sullivan@hotmail.com if anyone out there can help me get the software or something. thanks

to put ringtones and screensavers on my lg800 i went to funformobile.com they have a great selection, if they dont have what you want you can upload it to the website and send it to your phone. Its totaly free, except download fees, Bell mobility charges 5cents a kilobyte, but if you have unlimited web browsing then ist totaly free they dont charge a cent.

i had the same problem of not receaving signals so all i did was turned it off for a little while and now it work
August 11th, 2007 14:12
I bought this LG 800 near 2 month ago. it couldn’t receive signal sometimes, so, I sent it for repairation, waited for 5 weeks; the problem is there still. This is my whole 7 weeks experience with it: 2 weeks usage without signal reception frequently, and 5 weeks’ for reparing nothing; Since I have a 3 years contract with Bell and I exceeded the minutes for return and exchange, the seller told me the best thing they can do is to send it for reparation again… so, I have to wait for another 5 weeks again… maybe again and again… for 3 years…….
