LG GSA-4166B Super Multi DVD-Writer Review by CD Freaks
LG GSA-4166B internal DVD writer / burner is a Super Multi DVD-writer that can reads and writes to DVD-RAM media as well as typical CD-R, CD-RW, DVD+ and DVD- discs (both R and RW), including Dual Layer support. GSA-4166B also has LightScribe support where special LightScribe compatible discs can be flipped over in the drive to burn an image onto the surface of the disc for disc labelling.

Negative:
- Reads CD-DA/RW only at 40x
- Firmware locked read speeds on all but DVD-R and CD-R media
- No support for Bitsetting on DVD+RW media
- Green LED for both reading and writing
- Overburn for CD-R not well supported
- No DVD-R overspeed support
- No support for disc PI/PIF error scanning

Hi all,
i had problem with LG SUPER multi dvd rewriter
rom ver 1.04. I had window 2003 server installed on my machine when i am going to write with nero express my machine shutdown in between burning the dvd..

This drive won’t read CD-Rs I’ve previously burnt

Mine worked well for all of two months before it stopped reading discs at all. Had to replace the drive.

Had same problem had to remove upper and lower filters,google “DVD drivers will not install in Vista” for a how to.Works great now.

I have just purchased The LG 18x Super Multi DVD Rewriter (working well) however I cannot load the software on my Windows Vista operating system

My external lg works great, but my internal 4166 wont burn longer project’s ant works very slow, and after 15 percent it locks the computer and voids the dvd, Im using windows xp and dell xps with 2gb of ram, like i said, my super – multi on the desktop works great but my internal lightscribe sucks, Rob
