Migration to Windows Vista Planning
Microsoft Office 2007 and Microsoft Windows Vista are due to be released by Microsoft in 2006 or 2007. For organisations that plan to migrate to latest Office and Windows platform, InfoWorld recommends to start migration map planning earlier rather than later.
In the article, administrators are advised to start user-migration planning so that they will have better idea about questions of estimated manpower, migration dollars, and etc.
The article also introduces tools that can be used to help to automate user-migration process. The tools include Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003 (SMS), OS Deployment Feature Pack and User State Migration Tool (USMT). And users can look to third-party tools such as Altiris and LANDesk for Vista compatibility issues with third-party software.
