		<description>----------------------------
GENERIC INSTRUCTIONS FOR ANY WEBSITE
----------------------------

Ok this is how I do it. My way is better and never fails me and works for any website.

It unfortunatly is a little more complex, as it requires an understanding on how things are working. There are 2 ways you need to check and depending on the website choose the most approptiate method.

I use firefox, instructions for FIREFOX ONLY!!

1st method:
When getting to a website that you wish to get a .flv (flash video) from clear the firefox cache (tools options network clear now)

Then reload the webpage with f5.

Browse to your firefox cache directory. It will be something like this (not exactly the same)
C:\Documents and Settings\Shadowfax\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\8jl9gm2z.default\Cache

My username is shadowfax, choose your username as appropriate.

you should see a few files in there (not many you cleared the cache. In particular one file should be growing in size if you keep hitting f5 (assuming that you were quick enough to get here and the .flv is not fully cached.

Its important at this step to see the file growing, as certain websites remove the file from this directory once fully downloaded.

I see something like this:

a file growing is size called
AC76D77Dd01 (no extension)
and once the video is cached from youtube/whatever then it stops growing in size.
In this instance the file does not dissapear.

All you need to do now is copy and paste this file on your desktop and rename it with a .flv extension. It will then open in vlc.

However some sites like to delete this file and stop you using this method. Sneaky but easy to get around.

2nd method:
Ok so the file got removed. Its still cached just moved and cached to anouther location on the computer.
Different sites copy it to different places, you can use a search program to try and find a file that is a certain size (say it was 8mb just before it was removed) and search through all the 8mb files on your pc till you find one that is this size and most likely a matching copy of the file.

However you probably wont need to do this as the only time I have come accross this the file was move to anouther temp directory - namely:

C:\Documents and Settings\Shadowfax\Local Settings\Temp

The duplicate file is here, however try and copy and paste the file to your desktop. You will not be able to, the error is : &quot;file is in use and cannot be accessed&quot;

If you close firefox at this point the file is deleted from this directory, blocking you from copying it.

No big deal, they are just trying to stop you from getting copyright material. Unfortunatly windows has a method of overriding this called shadowcopy.

The easiest way to get the file via shadowcopy is to install the following program:

http://www.runtime.org/shadow-copy.htm

This will allow you to snapshot files in use.

Just follow the onscreens instructions of the program, point it to the file you want to copy and give it a destination, It will copy the file and you will be able to access it at any time. Just make sure you remember to rename it with a .flv extension.

Hope this helps people get the files they need and also help you to understand what is going on rather than relying on a 3rd party downloader that may not work for all sites.
