Bypass and Disable Genuine Windows Validation Check

As detailed in Bypass Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Check in Windows Update, Microsoft has made it harder for illegitimate, or for whatever reason, your copy of Microsoft Windows couldn’t be validated, users to retrieve updates via Microsoft Updates or Windows Update, and download programs from Microsoft Download Center.
If you just want to download and apply critical updates to your system, you will be still able to do that without any hack and crack. Just set your Windows’ Automatic Updates (found in Control Panel) setting to Automatic, and let Windows does the updating job in the background. The downside is, it won’t get for you the optional updates.
If you want to download optional components from Windows Update, or simply want to download Windows Defender, Windows Media Player 10, Photo Story 3, DirectX 9 and other application softwares from Microsoft Download Center that require WGA validation tool, you will need to apply a easy and safe hack to bypass the checking.
- Open Windows Explorer by clicking Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Windows Explorer.
- Browse to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Windows Genuine Advantage\data folder.
- Delete (or backup or move to another folder, if you want) data.dat file.
- Create a new empty data.dat: You can create a new text file by (make sure you are at the right folder at above) clicking File -> New -> Text Document or right clicking on Windows Explorer window then click New -> Text Document. Then, either rename the file to data.dat. The original .txt extention of the text file need to be changed too. You can disable the hiding of extension of known file types, or follow the following steps to create a new file out of the text file:
- Open the text document you just created.
- Click on File -> Save As.
- Change the Save as type to “All Files”.
- In the File name, type data.dat
- Click Save.
- Go back to the Windows Explorer, at folder C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Windows Genuine Advantage\data, check that data.dat exists.
- Delete the text file you created previously.
- Set the attributes of data.dat to Hidden and Read-Only. Attributes can be set by right click on the data.dat file, and then click on Properties.
- Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) validation check has been disabled.
Note: The data.dat that are replacing the original data.dat can be blank text file or empty, or you may type whatever you want there.
With this hack (or crack if you want), Windows WGA piracy check will be bypassed and you can now download software from Download Center or apply updates from Microsoft/Windows Updates.
Note: The hack no longer able to remove Microsoft Genuine Advantage that pop-up “This copy of Windows is not genuine” warning message by telling you that WGA encounters error when trying to perform validation. More details and ways to bypass WGA available here.

as you know if your stuck and broke and have WGA not letting youn in you can try to activate by web and put “C:” in the Explorers window when it pops up. you cant get explorer.exe to run but you have a window that you can find your files. I just found that if you donload MS messenger and when its done downloading, in Firefox Download maneger “open folder” (Firefox download location
esktop) where the start menu flashes, so the Startbar dowes show but the “Restore Destop Picture” fucks me up.

well if you want to have windowsdefender and skip wga:
easiest way to do it..
just download any version of windows defender and save it on c: then click on start—”Run” and type this without the cuotes
“c:/WindowsDefender.msi -qr”
(qr extension is for quiet mode no user interaction ) that will bypass wga validation and will go directly to install enjoy..

These tricks only patch Windows and also they aren`t 100% truthful. You have to fix basic problem: your CD-key is banned or not valid. To fix this problem you have to change CD-key. Thatway I have posted 4 tools to make your Windows GENUINE. i tried the “skip validation process” above and it says that windows was unable to tell if your version is genuine or not. then it gives me intructions telling me what to do.
Follow these steps to resolve the issue and
complete the validation process

i found this way didnt work for me so what i do which works everytime is click , run , in open box put %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\ ,then click Windows Genuine Advantage , i then open the data file with notepad, then dlete all the text and then save it, this has to be done everytime you want to download something tho.

I have successfully hacked again the WGA Validation Tools, here’s what you exactly do:
Download a version of hacked WGA here and intall it to your PC then reboot:

After reboot, to to C:\WINDOWS\system32\
then look for the file LegitCheckControl.dll and delete it, then replace it with this:

After doing this, you should be able to download all the necessary update!

Funny…I have the newest GMA installed, and I can’t validate on Windows Update, however I don’t get the nagware windows O.o
Is it because I’m running WinXP Pro Corp (keys of which can be used numerous times)
Well keep searchign for workarounds to let me use WinUpdate…there will eventually be a crack.

This trick with user.dat editing worked for a while, BUT today I had to install a windows-update and now i get this message when running microsoft update:

Try to download LegitCheckControl.dll from http://rapidshare.de/files/14475249/LegitCheckControl.dll.html
Replace the LegitCheckControl.dll inside C:\Windows\system32\ folder.
This worked a dream for me. It won’t overwrite the original if you’re in the middle of a GW Validation, so close that window and redownload. Once it overwrites properly, go back and download whatever you want! I suggest you save it, though.

I found a simple way to disable the installer of Windows Defender checking if your Windows is legit.

A simpler and easier way to do it is to use muBlinder, you wont need to delete and mess with fake DLLs or do anything else. Whenever you run it you will be able to bypass the update validation. Its only a 40kb file and doesnt even need to be installed. Can be found here http://www.p2plife.com/forums/Official_muBlinder_Page-t320.html

M$ have released a nice automatic update that shows reminders
every where about WGA, and how you are a victim of counterfeit
software, blah, blah, blah.
To disable it run regedit goto:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify\WgaLogon
Right click on Settings (Key/Folder) ->
Permissions ->
Advanced ->
Untick Inherit from… ->
Remove any permissions left in the box above ->
Add ->
Everyone ->
Tick Deny Full Control ->
Ok ->
Ok
You have just stopped anyone from accessing the data that tells
the WGA notification programs whether your copy is genuine or not.
This only disables the WGA Nags, it isnt a bypass for the indows genuine advantage check.

Reghack isn’t helping. And in order to remove I had to also put zero value in NoModify, NoRemove, NoRepair and TSAware. Reboor to check. No go. It reinstalls itself after reboot. Have new dll and get files from M$ fine. Don’t have the star in toolbar, just the startup shutdown nags. Will keep searching for fix.

Ok people, this works perfectly fine. (Thanks! My old method no longer works as of sometime last month.)
Add these steps…
First, close everything.
Second, follow above steps
Third, restart computer
Fourth, happy updating!
If you are running IE at the time you do this, it still knows what the old data.dat looked like, so will fail you. On a friends system where he has changed many settings, it was neccissary to restart his computer for the change to take effect.
And remember, hidden and READ ONLY! Otherwise it will just update it when you run IE.

This worked a dream for me. It won’t overwrite the original if you’re in the middle of a GW Validation, so close that window and redownload. Once it overwrites properly, go back and download whatever you want! I suggest you save it, though…

Disable ActiveX at the Registry
Another way that I found via a forum:
Download freeware ActiveXHelper.
Uncompress and run axhelper.exe.
Select ‘Load ActiveX list from the following CLSID/ProdID list:’.
Then paste LegitCheckControl.LegitCheck.1 and click OK .
Right-click on the registry key and select ‘ Disable selected item’.
Close all Internet Explorer Windows and restart IE.

Followed the instructions. New file. Empty. Hidden and read only. Used IE. Does not work. Pressing continue when you get to the spot that it asks for validation takes you to a page to download the active x control to vaildate (which you can not because the control is disabled) .. the only other option is the alternate validation which of course does not work either.

yuyu, again, this tricks is working at my PC. Try to use IE instead of Firefox or other browsers. And remember to change the attributes of data.dat to Hidden and Read-Only.
